Showtime – Postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19

2020

Hello everybody,

I hope this finds you and your families all safe and well.

I’m sure you’ve all been tuned in to the news with regard to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and how it’s escalating once again across the country.

Safety always comes first, and Anton and I have been in discussions with our tour organiser Raymond Gubbay: we are in agreement that we should, very sadly, postpone our 2021 ‘Showtime’ tour until 2022.

We're both so very sorry to be the bearer of such news - we’ve all been looking forward to the tour so much! Anton and I have recorded a special message for you in the video above – do please play it.

If you’ve already purchased tickets, please don't worry: the box office at the venue will be in touch to advise about new dates… and if you haven’t already booked – well, there's no time like the present: treat yourself with something special for when all this is over!

We’ll be back, you can be sure of that – with a show that’s bigger and better than ever before! …And now that we’ve two years to practice, it’ll be so worth the wait!

The new dates run from 28th January to 30th March 2022 and you can find all the details at www.AntonAndErinLive.co.uk with links through for bookings.

In the meantime, stay safe and well, and Anton and I will look forward to seeing you in theatres in 2022!

Lots of love,

Erin

2020

Hello everyone,

I very much hope this finds you safe and well as the Covid crisis continues. What a year it's been - so many changes for all of us, on so many levels, and so many families affected not just directly by the illness, but also by the effects it has on livelihoods, too. Let's hope we can all see an end to it as soon as possible!

The nights are drawing in, but Strictly's about to start - bringing some very welcome sparkle for our weekends! And if you get the dancing bug from your armchair, although social dancing isn't an option at the moment, I've some good news as I've launched my own Private Lessons!

Private Lessons with Erin Boag

My new lessons are for couples or small groups in my studio in Kingston upon Thames - and I'll ensure everything is Covid-compliant for everybody's safety. They'll be 45 minutes long, held on Mondays (daytime and evenings), for beginners, improvers... all the way up to competing professionals – and they're especially perfect if you want to perform a stunning first dance at your Wedding, too!

Private Lessons with Erin Boag

So, if you're looking to put the quick into your quickstep, make your waltz wonderful, or your tango more tantalising, book a masterclass with me! I love to teach, and although I'm very strict (as I'm sure you can imagine), I'm also very patient and truly wish for everyone to have lots of fun - whilst bringing out the very best in my students, no matter your age or ability.

Contact me at lessons@erinboag.com for further details, availability and prices!

Meanwhile, stay safe and well everybody,

Lots of love,

Erin

POSTPONED
Very sadly postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19
Please click for details

Hello everybody!

I hope this finds you safe and well with the terrible Covid-19 pandemic causing so much suffering around the world. What a very strange time it's been for us all - so many of us at home in isolation, so many working so bravely on the front lines in the NHS and essential services - all with the uncertainty of not knowing when it will be safe to start retuning to our previous routines. I'm very pleased to hear that things seem to be on the right track - and on that note, I couldn't be more excited right now to share with you the news of our 2021 Tour which has been announced today: 'Showtime'!

Showtime - our 2021 Nationwide Tour

As always, Anton and I will be joined by our incredible vocalist Lance Ellington, plus our wonderful dance ensemble, with world-class music provided by Richard Balcombe and his 23-piece orchestra. This year we'll be paying tribute to some of the world's greatest entertainment icons with numbers inspired by Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Charlie Chaplin, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Liza Minelli, Elton John and many more. It's going to be simply fantastic and rehearsals can't come quickly enough!

Showtime will begin on January 22nd and run through to the 3rd April, 2021. Tickets will be on sale from this Friday, June 12th 2020 - keep a watch on AntonAndErinLive.co.uk for all the dates, venues, and more fabulous photographs, too!

Make sure you follow the social media accounts for the Tour for all the news and backstage photos as rehearsals get underway! If you're on Instagram, follow @AntonAndErin - Twitter and Facebooks to follow!

At last, something for us all to look forward to - Anton and I are very excited about this tour, especially after the final few dates of our 2020 tour were cancelled which we were incredibly sad about - but of course, it was the right thing to do. Let's get this horrible virus behind us and look forward to to happier times... It's 'Showtime' everybody - we can't wait to get back on the stage, and we hope you can join us in the audience!

Lots of love,

Erin

"38 Weeks Gone, The Countdown Has Begun..."

38 Weeks Gone, The Countdown Has Begun...

18
Apr
2014

Hi Everyone,

It was a very sad day for me when I heard that Bruce was ‘semi’ retiring from Strictly Come Dancing. The reason I say ‘semi’ retiring as I know he will be back to host some Strictly specials every now and then. Some of the most memorable and wonderful experiences of my life have been working with and alongside the legend that is Bruce Forsyth. He is one of the last all-round entertainers from that bygone era of light entertainment and a true professional. Strictly will not be the same without him. I have posted below a couple of my personal favourite memories from over the years which you can see on YouTube:

Well, I have just passed the 38th week of my pregnancy and feel like the countdown has now begun, as I could go into labour any day. As I sit here and type this blog the baby is bouncing around in my tummy, which these days is pretty normal. I have a feeling I am not going to get any sleep it is so active. However I have to say I am very relaxed with what is about to happen to me – giving birth and the sleepless nights, but it is all worth it to finally meet our little baby.

Even though I only have a couple of weeks left I am trying to stay as active as I can. I am still going to the gym about 3 – 4 times a week and yes I get very strange looks from some of the gym members. Although I have to admit I do look rather strange in lycra these days! My doctor has told me to keep going with the exercise as long as I can manage, as moderate exercise is beneficial for the health of the baby and for me during the birth. I can’t run anymore so I walk with hand weights on the treadmill and use the bike and cross trainer machine. I also try to do a little bit of exercise with light weights just to keep my strength up.

Even though I have been going to the gym regularly I know I have still put on a lot of weight. The nurses keep saying to me that my bump is very compact, it’s just a shame I can’t say the same thing about my backside anymore!!!!

As well as going to the gym I have still been teaching my classes at Kingston Dance Studio. But rather than dancing I have been waddling around the floor showing them how it should be done, but I don’t get any complaints from my class. They seem to enjoy dancing with me and the bump!

I am starting to feel a little more organised now with all the baby gear I have assembled over the past few weeks. But I have to say my latest purchase was slightly more complex. Choosing a pushchair these days is just as complicated as choosing a new car. They come in all shapes and sizes to suit every taste and lifestyle, there are just so many to choose from. As it is something we are going to use all the time it was really important that we chose the right one. So after extensive user testing (I think the shop was getting a little tired of our questions!) and undertaking a focus group in our living room (only kidding) we went for the new i-candy Peach 3 in truffle. It’s fabulous, and can you believe it even comes with a cup holder! Very important these days don’t you think?

My dance partner Anton has just returned from a well-deserved holiday after finishing this year’s tour, which was of course a big success. So while I still have the energy we have been planning our shows and appearances for the forthcoming months. I intend to be back working again 6 weeks after baby arrives and feel having shows lined up gives me a bit of a target to aim for. But I also know Anton will be very supportive and if necessary he will drag me around the floor for the first few shows until I get my fitness back to the required level.

Check out our events calendar - hope to catch you at one of our shows!

Well that’s probably my last update before baby arrives so hopefully I will be able to give you another update not too long after the little one makes an appearance. So until then… wish me luck.

Love,

Erin x

"Strictly Au Revoir"

Strictly Au Revoir

01
Jun
2013

After ten wonderful years, and with a truly heavy heart, I have decided to decline the BBC's very kind offer to compete again in series eleven, and have withdrawn from being a competitive dancer on Strictly Come Dancing.

It's been a very hard decision to make, but it's time for a change and to focus my attention on new challenges. That said, it's not necessarily farewell to Strictly, as I do hope to continue being a part of the show.

Erin Boag on Strictly Come Dancing

With this change in mind, it's a timely opportunity to look back over the last ten series. I feel so privileged to have been involved with the show since it began almost a decade ago when both Anton and I were invited by the BBC to dance in the very first series. It's amazing to be part of something so very special - a global phenomenon! - that not only brought ballroom dancing back into favour, but also onto prime-time television, capturing the hearts and imaginations of viewers - and encouraging people to enjoy dance, too!

It's been so much fun making new friends, meeting wonderful people, and of course being partnered with such lovely celebrities year after year. I'm going to miss spending so much time with my amazing fellow professional dancers - it's true what they say, Strictly really is just like a great big family! From its inspirational producers; the dedicated crew who work so tirelessly behind the scenes; the costume, hair and make-up teams who've made me look so fabulous every week, and of course the wonderful Strictly house band of musicians and singers who never miss a beat, everybody continually works so very hard to push the boundaries and make each series bigger, better and more spectacular!

Strictly wouldn't be Strictly without you, the fans, and I can't thank you enough for all the encouragement and support you've given me and my celebrity partners over the past ten series - you've made this wonderful journey all the more magical.

With so many incredible moments and happy memories it's hard to pick my favourites, and it would be impossible to choose between my wonderful partners... so I'm simply going to leave you with some pro-dance highlights where Anton and I were lucky enough to perform alongside world class artistes. Enjoy!

I'm certainly not hanging up my dancing shoes and retiring from the ballroom... far from it! I'm going to be doing more television work, choreography and teaching (news on that to follow!), and Anton and I will still be performing at shows and events across the country as usual... keep an eye on our websites and twitter for all the latest!

So, it's ciao for now, but in the words of Brucie himself... Keeeeeeeeep dancing!!

Lots of love,
Erin
